What does your agricultural manufacturing business do?
We are an Australian owned granular herbicide and pesticide manufacturing business based in Orange NSW. We’re dedicated to the research, development, production and supply of high quality granular innovation. Our primary market is within the agricultural industry. Specifically with land holders who wish to rid their pastures of invasive grasses and woody weeds. Our herbicides are designed to eliminate a number of species that fall into the above mentioned categories, whilst promoting competition and productive pastures.
What’s one of your favourite products?
GP FLUPROPANATE, is a world first innovation for herbicide formulation. A specific clay carrier and application method has been patented. It enables high aerial efficacy and coverage for invasive grass control.
GP FLUPROPANATE controls invasive grasses like Giant Rats Tail grass (GRT) and Serrated Tussock (ST). These weeds are noted federally as ‘Weeds of National Significance’ and cause large economic, environmental and productivity issues. GP FLUPROPANATE is a selective that controls adult and juvenile plants over a number of years, whilst leaving productive and competitive pastures.
Granular Products has also purchased a BELL 206 BIII Jetranger helicopter to assist in precision application. It ensures GP’s products are professionally applied.
Why do you think your customers like this product so much?
The GP FLUPROPANATE formula is specifically developed for Australian conditions to help rid grazing land of certain invasive grass weeds. This in turn allows the grazing land to reach a higher potential. After a GP FLUPROPANATE application herbicidal activity will continue for several seasons, it is a very cost effective and time efficient method of control. There is the benefit of no drift when applying a granule instead of a liquid herbicide.
Can you give us a brief history of your business and the growth it has experienced so far?
Granular Products has been operational for 10 years, since the release of GP FLUPROPANATE in October 2011 sales. Business expansion has really taken off. What started as one man and an idea is now a company of 10 staff, servicing large areas across the eastern sea board. An extension of our business is our network of aerial operators who we contract to fly our product onto pastures. We also work closely with a number of rural resellers across QLD and NSW.
How is Unleashed helping your business grow?
There are many component items that go into each product in our range. Unleashed has provided us with the platform to ‘manufacture’ each of our agricultural products through the assembly process, just as they are physically manufactured in our warehouses. Essentially this function allows us to mirror what is taking place in real life in our software. This means we have more control of our stock levels for the compound products as well as finished products. It also allows us to put an accurate dollar value on each and every compound item. This is a huge benefit when looking at profit, loss and margins.
Is there something you are particularly excited for your business right now?
Granular Products are continually looking to improve our existing agricultural products. We also have a couple of very exciting products currently going through the research and development process. Watch this space!
Is there something your business is particularly proud of?
Granular Products is a proud advocate of Australian manufacturing and quality control. We compete against multinational companies. Through innovation and development of niche application technologies we are able to deliver specific services, which is an integral part of our business.
Are there any particular not-for-profit causes that you, or your business is passionate about, and why?
We are very proud to support beyondblue. Working closely with farmers and often in remote and rural areas gives great insight into the harsh realities of life on the land. beyondblue is working to reduce the impact of depression and anxiety in communities. Granular Products are proud to be a contributor to this worthy organisation.
We purchase all our office toilet paper and tissues from ‘Who Gives a Crap’, who donate 50% of their profits to WaterAid to build toilets and improve sanitisation in the developing world. Everyone needs toilet paper so it’s an incredibly easy way to make a contribution on a global scale.
